CASE STUDY: HOW ARTA HAS BECOME AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE DAILY WORK FLOW AT TANYA LEIGHTON GALLERY
Established in 2008, Tanya Leighton Gallery in Berlin is dedicated to developing a cross-disciplinary, trans-generational gallery program with off-site projects, in collaboration with artists, filmmakers, critics, art historians, and curators. The gallery started using Arta in 2017, and the platform has since become a central part of the daily work flow for Henry Babbage, the gallery’s registrar.
Improving the client experience
Henry uses Arta in a number of ways to service clients based on their requests and expectations.
Arta Instant Quote has been particularly helpful for providing pre-sale shipping estimates for clients who are interested in a work, but want to understand the all in cost before purchasing. Being able to immediately follow up with a client who requests a shipping quote instead of waiting to hear back from another shipper allows the gallery to provide a superior customer experience.
Similarly, for post-sale shipping, the gallery is able to obtain multiple quotes for a single job via the Arta platform that can easily be shared through a link with clients. Clients can compare the options, select the one they’d like to move forward with, and pay seamlessly online. Henry also notes that the clean organization of Arta's dashboard is particularly helpful for himself and his clients.
Saving valuable time
One of the more concrete benefits gained from working with Arta is how much time it saves, when compared with the alternative process of emailing individual shippers separately and constantly following up for a response and with questions. Henry estimates Arta easily saves him at least an hour per shipment. Given he is working on 1-2 shipments per week, on top of typical high volume periods such as art fairs and post exhibitions, he will save at least 8 hours a month. That’s an entire day that the Registrar can get back to support other important aspects of the business, which can be hugely beneficial for a gallery with just 7 employees.
After years of working together, Henry is confident that Arta will get a job done reliably and efficiently. He trusts Arta will source the best vendor for each job, and that once he submits a request he will have quotes and answers back by the end of the day without having to do any follow up.
Access to logistics experts
Arta's extensive worldwide network of service providers has been particularly useful for the gallery, as their team is able to gain access to shippers they otherwise would not have known about. This can be particularly helpful when they are shipping to locations they are not familiar with, which is increasingly common in today’s global market. Moreover, Henry leverages Arta's team of logistics experts to identify the best routes or optimal methods for certain shipments, as well as to estimate taxes and duties when shipping internationally. That these additional costs are collated together within the itemized quotes helps save time otherwise spent researching or going back and forth with a shipper in order to get a true understanding of the total cost.
