ARTA’s Service Tiers and Shipping Options Guide

ARTA transports objects that vary significantly in size, fragility, and value. Our various service tiers and shipping methods accommodate these differences, enabling our clients to safely ship their items and accommodate their unique needs. From white-glove handling to parcel shipments, our service tiers allow you to choose how you’d like your objects collected, packed, and delivered.

Premium

Our Premium service tier accommodates high-value and fragile fine art, antiques, and temperature-sensitive objects. Premium shipments are carried out by trained technicians with specialized transport and white-glove handling skills, allowing our clients the option to request installation and other services at delivery. Premium shipments are typically transported via road and air freight.

Select

Our Select tier is best for items like oversized design objects, furniture, and some antiques. Items like these may need first and last-mile services like packing, assembly, and white-glove handling, without requiring the specialized, delicate handling that Premium offers. Shipments are transported with similar objects and are typically blanket wrapped or crated for transport on non-climate-controlled vehicles.

Parcel

Parcel is ideal for smaller items like jewelry, watches, photographs, unframed prints, and collectibles. ARTA’s Parcel option sends a carrier partner to the collection location to retrieve the item. The item is packed for safety and returned to a carrier hub, where additional packaging will be completed. Once packed, the item will be shipped via our global parcel network, which offers multiple speed options, like Second Day Air, Next Day Air, and Ground Shipping.

Self Ship

Self Ship is ideal for prepacked items or for sellers that can securely pack items in-house. Once a shipment is booked, ARTA sends the origin contact a shipping label from carriers like UPS, FedEx, or DHL to attach to the package for transport. Clients save administrative time by utilizing our automated labels and reduce shipping costs for Buyers through our discounted rates

*During Self Ship’s beta phase, ARTA may choose to update eligibility criteria for various shipment attributes, including object type and value. We may also choose to update the Self Ship workflows and service costs as needed. 

Transit Insurance

Insurance is offered as an additional option to protect the value of our clients’ rare objects. Insurance can be requested on any quote requests.

1. How will I know which Service Tier is best for my item?

ARTA analyzes an object’s value, material, size, and collection and delivery locations and returns quotes within service tiers that can accommodate an item’s needs. From here, clients can pick their preferred quote and service tier. Some clients prefer a more economical option, like Parcel, while others might prefer a higher level of service and handling, like Select or Premium.

2. What is the typical transit time for each tier?

  • Premium: 3-5 weeks
  • Select: 3-5 weeks
  • Parcel: 2-3 weeks
  • Self Ship: 1-2 weeks

3. How does ARTA quote each item so quickly?

Our quotes are calculated through ARTA’s proprietary rating engine, which is powered by multiple parallel workflows and allows us to provide near-instant pricing. Our costs are based on data models and negotiated discounted pricing with hundreds of providers. We then factor in expert-driven packing logic and location-specific handling costs to provide various quotes to accommodate our clients’ needs.
