Minnesota Street Project Art Services is a San Francisco-based ARTA shipping partner.
Established by experienced art collectors Andy and Deborah Rappaport in March 2016, the Project’s Art Services + Storage business not only offers museum standard, one-stop storage, installation, transportation, and collection management solutions, but also generates sustainable financial support for the Minnesota Street Project. 100% of the profits are used to support the artists, galleries, and institutions that comprise the Minnesota Street Project.
Q: Where is your favorite place to book a dedicated truck?
A: The Bay Area offers some of the most diverse and stunning natural landscapes in North America. On any given week, our team is lucky enough to find themselves driving down the scenic 17-mile drive of Carmel, headed into Tahoe’s Incline Village or transporting fine artworks through the idyllic vineyards of Napa and Sonoma. It’s hard to pick a favorite!
Q: Do you have ANy team traditions?
A: Most of our team of art handlers are also practicing artists and the office doubles as a gallery space to display their work. We host rotating “exhibits” which serve as a good excuse for us to mingle after hours.
Q: How do you hope the industry changes in the next five years?
A: Given there is no shortage of creativity on our team, everyone is always considering ways to limit waste by repurposing materials no longer used in our daily operations. Generally, we are all hopeful that the industry will standardize practices to mitigate the environmental impact of fine art shipping and transport.
Q: What is your proudest company moment so far?
A: The Sonoma fires had a significant impact on our client base. During that period, we were proud to offer pro-bono assistance in transportation, storage and conservation coordination. It was a drop in the bucket of needed relief efforts, but it felt good to help in the way we could.
Q: What is the must-have snack in your break room?
A: That’s a toss up between salt and vinegar potato chips and chocolate chip cookies. Both are in constant supply and demand.
